Futures Thinking is concerned with analyzing and making sense of emerging, technology-driven trends. Emergent means that they are already visible on the distant horizon, but their development or practical applications are still largely immature. Nevertheless, these trends have the potential for radical innovation, change and disruption as well as rapid growth. They can therefore have an economic and social impact and fundamentally change the status quo. Futures thinking and future literacy are core competencies of sustainable, successful organizations.
In our chaotic world of opinions, false urgencies, half-truths and hyped technologies, we need a feature to stay ahead of the game – the Trend Scout.
A scout observes and recognizes activity, data, patterns and other characteristics in their domain. The scout’s method is to make sense of all the information available and develop better future strategies.
Futures literacy becomes the core competence of every future-oriented organization. It focuses on the following questions: what is the next technology trend that will change the world in a sustainable way? How can we prepare and capitalize on this potential?
Our Futures Thinking Workshop is designed to provide a structured, step-by-step process for exploring and tapping into these technology trends. The workshop begins by learning from well-known futurists of the past and present.
We will apply tools to practice and develop our scouting skills, brainstorm and prioritize signals, and connect them to potential new technologies. We will explore future scenarios and assess the impact on the environment, society and business models.
I am more interested in the future than the past, because I intend to live in it
(Albert Einstein)
Get to know the thought patterns and thinking models of futurists such as Jules Verne, Michio Kaku and Elon Musk and cultivate an open mindset.
Look into the future: discover how signals, megatrends and emerging (digital) technologies are connected. Decode these developments and apply them to your domain (industry, strategy, business model, product, etc.).
Discover how mental filters (bias) dangerously limit your creativity, collaboration, convergence. Instead, sharpen your probabilistic and systemic thinking to filter out real signals from the background noise.
Develop a range of different future scenarios in your domain by applying Scouting Mindset thinking models and patterns; examine changes to your company’s products and strategy.
Explore an Emergent Technology of your choice, operationalize the use of this scenario in the group and make a decision; establish the Scouting Toolkit & Mindset as part of your New Work culture program.
Examine the impact of your scenarios on the environment, society and business models. Develop a scouting roadmap for your organizational development and product development.

Experienced Experts
Our experts have many years of experience with digital technologies, data analytics and AI and have worked as managers in technology companies. This expertise is now at your disposal.
Learning by doing
The training is a laboratory. You learn new things, apply them and reflect on what you have learned. Experience and reflection are an essential part of the training - we don't deliver a PowerPoint battle.
Learning Library
All participants have access to our extensive learning library with over 200 units, videos, templates and more resources, which can also be used in day-to-day leadership situations.
Community
All participants work together intensively and form a community. Even after the training, you remain part of a leadership community and can actively develop your leadership skills.
Would you like to run this as an in-house workshop? Would you like to work on specific case studies or challenges in your company?
We tailor our formats to your needs or the needs of your managers and teams. To start with, we offer you a free co-creation (90 min). Let’s start with an initial meeting
This Workshop consists of three integrated elements: Classroom training elements, challenges in self-organized learning groups and on-demand learning. In 2 days, our experienced trainers provide helpful insights and skills relating to Future Thinking and Future Literacy, which are further developed in self-organized learning groups.
The active application of the content in everyday working life is crucial in order to not only deepen new knowledge, but also to achieve visible success for your organization. To make this possible, we provide participants with a wide range of exercises and tools that ensure an exceptional and successful learning experience and outcome.
In addition, we can tailor this learning journey to your organization and enable managers to act like in-house consultants and develop specific approaches for your Future Literacy as an organization.
The Future Thinking Workshop is a laboratory. In it, you will change your perspective and explore possible futures. From this perspective, you will identify new potential for your company. The workshop thus provides completely new approaches for designing products, services, business models or even markets. Your company benefits from this by starting developments at an early stage, deploying resources, building up expertise and establishing a leading position.
The Future Thinking Workshop differs from other further training courses for teams and organizations in that it not only provides further training, but also aims to achieve concrete, implementable results for your company. Participants are offered new perspectives and concrete tools to actively work on their own vision of the future. This enables you to make better decisions about your future.
The Future Thinking Workshop differs from Design Thinking in terms of time and content. While Design Thinking is an approach to develop new services and products close to the needs of people (users), Future Thinking concentrates on larger time periods and emerging technologies. These will lead to new needs and make new products and services necessary. Future Thinking and Design Thinking therefore differ in their temporal focus, but complement each other perfectly!
The workshop offers you a concrete advantage for long-term strategic planning and development in that it does not leave the shaping of the future to fate, but makes you capable of acting as a company. Major technological breakthroughs, including their social and economic upheavals, can often be explained in retrospect. We will show you how you can anticipate such developments for the future – and act accordingly.
The workshop works with radical shifts in perspective and uncovers dangerous filters, prejudices and biases. Participants get to know new thinking models and patterns and can free themselves from past-oriented cognitive filters. We provide appropriate tools and methods that all participants can try out and reflect on. The design of the workshop is geared towards “doing”, not just “getting to know”.
The workshop can be individually adapted to the needs and goals of your organization by tailoring it to your company in a co-creation process. The participants act like an in-house consulting team and not only learn, but also deliver concrete, actionable results and a roadmap.
All of the trainers in our community have their own leadership experience, have all completed in-depth external coaching and/or trainer education and have also taken part in our internal train-the-trainer programs.
